Well after 20 years of work and after being made redundant for the second time in 12 months the family and I have decided to do the big lap (well half a lap really) starting the week after Easter. We are planning to take the kids out of school for the whole of term 3 and travel west to Perth via Adelaide then up the west coast, across to Darwin then out to Daly River for some Barra fishing prior to coming down the middle and then home.
We plan to blog all the was as a trip diary. I expect most of it will be me (Stuart) but I want to also record the thoughts, experiences and feeling of Tanya and the kids as well. Its funny, the day I was made redundant I cam home and said "What about we go round Australia?" the response was a firm yes from all so it was just me that had to commit, I was unsure about the whole financial crisis thing but once we worked out that we could survive on Tanya's wage I was much more at ease.
So there it is we are committed to going round Australia for three months (back for the start of term 3!) then once I get back its time to stop working for somebody else and start up my own IT Consulting business
